Weather & Hurricane Info:
Here are a few weather web sites that I think you'll find of
interest:
You may find the following hurricane wind information useful:
CATEGORY / WIND SPEED
- I ........... 74 - 95 MPH
- II .......... 96-110 MPH
- III ....... 111-130 MPH
- IV ....... 131-155 MPH
- V ............. 156+ MPH
BUYS BALLOT'S LAW - If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, a
hurricanes's center and direction of travel can be determined
by useing Buys Ballot's Law. To do this, face the wind and extend
your right arm out at about 100 degrees from the direction you
are facing. Your arm is now pointing approximately at the
center of the storm. Periodic determinations like this will
indicate the storm's relative movement and on which side of
the hurricane's track line you are located.
I'll bet you can't wait to try that out!
PENSACOLA MARITIME PARK PROJECT
New waterfront park project proposed for Pensacola! Retired
Admiral Jack Fetterman, Businessman Quint Studer and UWF President Dr. Cavanaugh
announced plans to partner with the City of Pensacola to develop a waterfront
festival park which will include a Maritime Museum, Mixed use business areas,
public use waterfront, and a sports facility. Click on the following link to see
more information about this exciting project. It is with great regret that we announce
the passing of Admiral Fetterman. There is a push to name the new Maritime Musuem
after him which this writer thinks is well deserved. Go to
MARITIME PARK to see more information.

USS Oriskany - Artifical Reef
by Ted Brown - President of Brown Marine Service, Inc.
She's back!
There are those that thought that when she left last year to escape the
hurricane season that she'd never return but they were wrong.
She's currently scheduled to be sunk approximately 22.5 miles South of
Pensacola Beach on May 17, 2006. The sinking will be filmed by National
Geographic and Divers and fishermen will enjoy her for many years to come.
She will be the world's largest artificial fishing reef!
Here's a link to more information:
