Foley Beach Expressway and Toll Bridge Photos |
![]() This is an aerial of where the expressway crosses the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. Wolf Bay is to the top of the photo. North is to the left. |
This photo was taken about 1.5 miles north of the Intracoastal Waterway. The City of Orange Beach, Alabama has purchased property on both sides of the expressway less than a mile ahead. This area will build up fast once the expressway is opened in the Summer of 2000. We own the property on both sides in this photo. About 700 acres can be made available to the east (left). We are looking South in this photo. |
Construction on the new bridge has begun! This is one of two bridges to be built to provide 4 lane traffic (2 north & 2 south) across the Gulf Intracoastal waterway at Orange Beach, Alabama. Our property is along the right side and consists of 1700 feet on the water and about 40 acres. |
This is the toll plaza under construction. The building on the left is to be a check in area for tourists that are staying in Orange Beach area condos. They can pick up their keys before they cross the canal onto the island. |
Construction proceeds fast and furious on the new 4-lane expressway which will connect I-65 with the Gulf of Mexico at Orange Beach, Alabama when finished in 2003. The Foley to Orange Beach section will be finished in the Summer of 2000. |
This view is looking North from the bridge. This was taken at the grand opening and shows the completed toll toll plaza and road. |
Tim James dedicates the new bridge from the top of the bridge. Yes - the Tug passed safely under the bridge. |
